I am excited to continue this journey of growth and learning to inspire and empower the next generation of researchers through project supervision and research collaboration with all my students.  Here are the PhD students that I am currently supervising.

Qian Wu, PhD Candidate

Qian Wu is a PhD candidate at Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. She holds a Master’s degree (research) in Renmin University of China, and a Bachelor’s degree in Xiamen University in China.
Her PhD research focuses on exploiting cues of user-generated questions to manage knowledge co-creation in online communities. Preliminary results from her PhD work have been published at several international conferences including JCDL 2022, ASIS&T 2020 and 2022. She is the recipient of the SIGIR 2022 Student Travel Grant award and the 2022 WKWSCI Teaching Excellence Award (graduate student instructor).

Zhong Tang, PhD Student

Zhong Tang is a Ph.D. student in Information Studies at Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University. He holds an M.S. in Information systems from the Nanyang Technological University and a B.S. in computer science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
His research focuses on misinformation, particularly investigating verification strategies of fake videos.

Kok Khiang Lim (Kevin), PhD Candidate

Lim Kok Khiang is a PhD candidate at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He holds a Master’s degree in Information Studies from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Adelaide, Australia.

Lim’s research interests lie in the intersections between behavioural economics and informal online learning, and incorporating data analytics to uncover trends and derive insights. His current research focuses on understanding learners’ learning behaviour in informal online learning spaces by studying their online activities. The outcomes seek to develop a low-cost and sustainable behavioural intervention that could effectively guide learners towards learning success.

Chen Qi, PhD Student

Chen Qi is a Ph.D. student in Information Studies at WKWSCI. She holds an M.S. in Design from Hunan University, China and a B.S. in Industrial Design from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China.
Her Ph.D. research focuses on serious game for mental health intervention, which is a interdisciplinary research in design, psychology, and education.
