I am currently Professor of Information and Associate Chair (Faculty) at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore (NTU).Ā I am also the Chair of NTU Teaching Council and Fellow of the NTU Teaching Excellence Academy. At the Center for Information Integrity and the Internet (IN-cube), I spearhead the Laboratory for Online Information Research and Education (LORE).Ā
I received a PhD in Management Information Systems from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Liautaud Graduate School. of Business. I also received an M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Computer and Information Science from the National University of Singapore. I have corporate experience in systems analysis,Ā data management, statistical processing, and business operations in the financial sector.Ā
I am actively involved in research on human-information interaction, investigating how people learn, search, evaluate, socialize, and behave in online environments for school and work, and in everyday life. My recent research examines digital nudging as a plausible and impactful intervention for shaping usersā online behavior when interacting with generative AI.Ā
I am on the Stanford Elsevier Top 2% Scientists Lists (career-long impact and single recent year impact) and a recipient of teaching awards, includingĀ Nanyang Education Awards (at both School & College) and John Cheung Social Media Award.
